When it comes to camping many people are always searching for the latest gear. Whether it’s a new backpack, tent or multi faceted tool, having the right camping gear makes camping easier and more fun. One of the best and most overlooked tool for camping is a camping towel. While many probably don’t consider getting a special towel for camping but rather take whatever towel they can find with them (if they take one at all). The truth is that buying a camping towel will make camping hygiene so much easier that it’s well worth the look, so be sure to put it on your camping checklist.

While there isn’t very much in the way of camping towels, the few that exist are very useful and have been well designed for camping. The best type of towel for camping is a microfiber camping towel. Microfiber is an incredible technology that combines two types of materials in such as way that it makes the fabric so much more water absorptive. These microfiber towels can hold up to 7 times more water than a regular cotton towel so they don’t have to be as large as an equivalent towel. And as I’m sure you know, the less stuff you have to take or the smaller it can be the better. The unique properties of microfiber use capillary action to quickly wick away water so you actually dry off faster which when it is cold out is very helpful. Also, this property works in reverse as well, so when you’ve got your towel soaked, a quick wringing out of the towel and a few minutes hanging on the line will have it dry enough to pack away on your next adventure. And because the microfiber camping towels are specially designed with camping in mind there’s a convenient snap feature that can keep the towel snugly wrapped up or you can use it to hang on a clothes line or nearby tree branch to air out.

If there’s one camping tool that you need this camping season, it’s a microfiber camping towel.

One of the fundamental equipments for camping is the portable gas stove. Its use dates back during the 19th century, the time when it was first invented. Presently, there are many types and models to select from which you can use for your own convenience. Some time ago, the only fuel for portable gas stoves is kerosene. Due to safety reasons, other fuels were developed such as butane and propane. Companies such as Coleman, a highly popular American company that specializes in producing different useful products for camping, have made their own line of fuels for camping activities. Some of these are White Gas or Camping Fuel. More importantly, these fuels are more ideal because they can be used in any type of weather. These would still burn even under extremely cold weather. It burns hotter than other liquid fuels because the fuel is clean and refined.

Fortunately if you are planning to purchase a new gas stove there are many to choose from with a variety of different features. A popular one is the Coleman 425F499G 2-burner portable gas stove. It is ideal for those camping adventures. It is very transportable and can be brought anywhere. Place it in a tent, a cabin, or even on outdoor grounds. You will only need 2.5 pints of Coleman White Gas fuel which will last approximately 8 hours worth of burn time. It can even boil a quart of water within four minutes. The 11500 BTU is also included. The weight of the entire set is only 12.5 pounds, making it easy to bring around. You only clean it every after camping trips. Presently, it is also one of the most stylish portable gas stove available in stores. More importantly, the quality, transportability, and the functions of the stove are the real reasons why you will buy this equipment.

One of the biggest necessities when you’re out camping, RVing or at a tailgate is having a cooler. You need to have something that will keep your food and beverages cold and there’s a wide range of portable coolers available. But who said they had to be boring? If you’re looking to get a cooler that is not only functional but will also be the talk of the party, you need to check out the Cruzin Cooler.

If you’ve never run across a Cruzin Cooler before, at first glance they look like a cooler that has been attached to a scooter. But upon closer inspection, it’s much more elaborate than that. What these inventors did was to take a regular portable cooler, divided it up so that the electric motor was in one half while the cooler compartment (which can hold 24 12-oz cans and 8 pounds of ice) is in the other, attached it to a scooter so that the wheels are motorized and threw some handle bars and a seat on the cooler to provide the a cooler that you can ride around wherever you want. The electric motor model has a few different size motors that will determine what type of power you have behind you. The bigger motors are necessary if you’re going to have a lot of weight on the cooler or if you have to go up some fairly steep inclines. Generally, the electric motor can take you up to 10 miles. The cooler can hold a case of beer or any other 12 ounce can but if you don’t think that will be enough (you are camping aren’t you?) you can purchase an attachable wagon that has that ability to hold 72 more cans with ice and support your 350 pound friend.

Buying a Cruzin Cooler will definitely make you the talk of the party and you’ll never have to worry about going anywhere without a cold one with you.

Cooking in the great outdoors isn’t that much different than cooking in your kitchen at home. You just need the right equipment and some preparation ahead of time. An outdoor grill or camp stove is a necessity on your camping checklist, along with the proper cookware and utensils; once you have all these things together, all you need to do is a little planning and some preparation before you leave home and you will be eating very well on your camping trip.

Camping Stove

The basic equipment you need for cooking at the campsite is a camp stove or one of the many quality portable grills available, appropriate cookware and some utensils. The cookware you take with you should be made of a material that can stand direct heat; cast iron is a good choice. Try to choose items that can serve more than one purpose, to conserve space. For example, a deep skillet can be used to fry bacon or make pancakes for breakfast and then be used to fry chicken for dinner. Utensils should have long handles so that hands are kept a good distance from the heat and don’t forget to bring along an oven mitt or two.

Make a list of all the meals you want to prepare on your camping trip and try to do some of the preparation before you leave. It is much easier to do this prep work at home in your kitchen than trying to do it all at the campsite. You can pre-cut vegetables and place them in heavy-duty aluminum foil; they can then be placed directly on the grill and cooked easily. Don’t forget to either butter or oil the inside of the foil so the veggies won’t stick. It is much easier to make hamburger patties at home and store them in a plastic container in a cooler than it is to make the patties at the campsite.

Prepackage single servings of foods in Ziploc bags; things like cereal and chips. This keeps food from going stale or being wasted if the box gets spilled. Pre-cutting carrot and celery sticks makes a handy snack for children and prepackaging salad will allow you to have a nice crunchy tossed salad with your steak.

Keeping camping cooking basics together in storage makes it much easier to get ready for a trip. If everything is all together then you are less likely to forget something. Keep a camping supply box that has all your cookware, utensils and basic supplies like aluminum foil and paper towels with you camping supplies and all you’ll have to do is grab it and go. With just a bit of planning and preparation you will be able to enjoy the same delicious food camping as you do at home.

Camping can be great fun and an excellent way to relax and unwind. A few tips to help you get the best from your camping can ensure that your camping trip is memorable for all the right reasons!

1) If it’s your first camping trip ever, or first with a new tent, then camp somewhere not too far from home. If you need to abandon the trip or you forget something essential, you won’t have far to go.

2) A checklist of equipment, clothes, food etc. can be a good idea. No need to worry about leaving important things behind.

3) If you are inexperienced as a camper, avoid camping in remote areas until you have more experience.

4) If you can avoid doing so, don’t pitch your tent under trees. It’s more dangerous in thunderstorms, plus sticky sap on your tent or constant dripping after rain can be stressful. Pack a clean rag and wipe your tent down and let it dry prior to packing up at the end of your camping trip. Also sweep out the tent, taking care to remove all insects and pebbles from the tent.

5) Carry a first aid kit in case of any accidents. They aren’t expensive and with some basic first aid knowledge could really make a difference. If you’re going to be hiking on your camping trip also carry some moleskin or other blister prevention items in your first aid kit.

6) Take insect repellent which can be applied to the skin and apply it regularly to keep ticks and other biting insects away. You can also get a mosquito ring, which you light and it emits a smoke repellent, or a citronella candle for the same purpose.

7) Consider using an insect repellent which can be applied to fabrics. This may be applied to clothing or tent to keep biting insects at bay.

8) Take food which can be eaten cold or if you prefer hot food, choose some which heats quickly on a camping stove. This will reduce the amount of fuel you need to burn. Take precautions as necessary to avoid animals eating your food stores.

9) If there is no clean water supply, take plenty of clean water or chemicals/equipment to purify your water.

10) It can get cold at night even in Summer. Make sure your sleeping bag or other bedding is up to the job, and you will sleep well. Air mattresses are really worth their weight in gold. If you arrive late at the camp ground, please consider blowing up your air mattresses away from the camping areas and walking to your camp site with the mattresses. Bring flashlights!

These are just a few simple tips to add to your camping checklist, if you want to get more including tips on where to camp, then visit the author’s website Cheap Tents Info.

Ever had the feeling of being tired of packing chairs for camping? What makes it tiring is the fact that these chairs are big in a way that it takes out an amount of energy just squeezing them in your car or SUVs. Plus the fact that you will eventually take them out of your automobile and set it up for camp. That’s inconvenience at its worst.

If you are a family guy who wants to spend time with your family on the outdoors doing a camping trip then you should think first of what to pack. This is where your camping checklist comes into play! The shelter will always be the priority but once the shelter is set-up where can you relax or sit if there isn’t any space in you car to carry those loads of bulky chairs. Well not to worry because the camp stool is just the right thing for you and your family to bring.

Basically, a camping stool comes in different forms. There are those that are very flexible literally that it can save time, space, and effort when bringing them on a journey to the wilderness. There are foldable camp stools which are light weight in nature and can save twice the space for your other materials or equipment. Though it is small in size, the sturdiness and durability of this stool can support heavyweights because of its wide center of gravity base. It can be made out of wood, wood with a cloth for the seat, metal, or even plastic. Aside from the different materials being used, it also has a wide variety of designs. It can have a back support if you want to have something supporting your back for that tiring day in the camp or there are times wherein it is just presented without it. There are also stools that comfortably support your buttocks using the cloth that is attached to it following the contours of your behind.

Overall, camping stool is a must bring equipment or material when you are out camping with your family, friends, relatives, or love ones. It is convenient and it doesn’t have to be complicated to set it up. Just place it wherever and whenever you want and voila, you can now sit the rest of the day enjoying the panoramic view of the place where you’re camping.

You can never leave for that camping trip without planning on the all the necessary preparations for food. You’ll need to start a camping checklist. Bring with you a (1) small propane or charcoal grill (don’t forget the charcoal) and starting fluid or propane tank, (2) butane lighters (preferably the longer ones used for starting fireplaces), (3)storage containers, (4)aluminum foil, (5)napkins, (6)plastic zip lock bags, (7)cutting board, (8)knife and knife sharpener, (9)cooking Utensils, (10)most preferably plastic dishes and plates, (11)kitchen linens, (12)Coffee pot/tea kettle and filter (13)tea and coffee, (14)cleaning items like soap, sponge, paper towels, kitchen brushes and cleaners; (15)Paper/plastic bags for trash collection; and (16)gallons of bottled water.

For activities outdoor while on your camping site you should be bringing the following: (1)Any outdoor lighting, (2)stools, (3)folding chairs, (4)stackable chairs, (5)sleeping gears like mattress and sleeping bags; and (6)battery powered radio. Remember though no to overdo it. Don’t bring a lot. Communicate with your family what you should and should not be bringing. Children sometimes suggest bringing this and that out of curiosity and excitement. Be in charge.

Consider also bringing materials for campsite maintenance such as (1)spare batteries (9V, 6V lantern, D, C, AA, AAA); (2)tool set,(3)ropes, (4)tarps, (5)bungee straps, (6)electrical or duct tape, (7)shovel, (8)ax, (9)level and small pails, (10)wood blocks and levelers to assist in leveling your recreational vehicle, (11)broom, (12)mop and dust pan, (13)an ample supply of toilet paper, toilet chemicals and tissue, and most of all (14) good camping manual. The manual is imperative especially when you’re new to a place or unfamiliar yet to campground essentials.

Purchasing a travel coffee mug doesn’t have to be a frustrating experience. Getting a handle on just a few facts will vastly increase your chances of picking the perfect mug on the first try. Let’s get this item crossed off your camping checklist!

What is most important to you — temperature retention, stylish design, durability, getting to work without spilling coffee, or tea, on you clothes? Or something else entirely? Only you know the answer; whatever it is, use that as the starting point.

For example, say durability is more important to you than style. Then check out some stainless steel travel mugs. And if temperature retention is your next priority, narrow that list to double-walled, vacuum-insulated stainless steel mugs. Focus in on the lids; look for one that has a closable spout so heat is less likely to escape.

Even if your first priority is fashion, these days it’s easy to look stylish with your favorite hot beverage in tow. There’s a wide range of artistic designs and trendy colors being used by mug designers. Many of these travel coffee mug creations, depending on what material they’re made of, won’t leave you holding a cold beverage when you started out with a steaming hot one.

If you’ve broken your previous travel coffee mug and must have a replacement ASAP, check out your nearby chain-owned mini-mart. Failing that, your nearest super-center should have travel mugs. The selection, however, will be limited. If time isn’t a factor, shop around. There’s a wide variety of travel mugs available online, ranging from less than $5 to about $30. Some websites offer free shipping; be sure to check return policies before purchasing your new travel coffee mug.

There’s no reason to become overwhelmed when trying to find the perfect travel coffee mug. It’s just a matter of priorities. And, of course, having a stress-free coffee drinking experience.

If you’re into the outdoors, taking the right equipment with you when you set out on that mountain or forest trail could mean the difference between survival and disaster. While modern gadgetry like cell phones and GPS devices are becoming increasingly available in the most remote locations, you cannot always rely on them to work. What sorts of things should go on your camping checklist?

Here, then, are seven key items you should always bring with you:

1) A map. Has the hiking trail you are about to journey on been mapped in some way, perhaps by the local or national forestry division? Or is there a topographical map available? If so, you would be foolish not to bring a copy of this map with you.

2) A compass. OK, so you didn’t bring a map and you got lost. Now what? It should go without saying, but should such misfortune strike you will be very grateful to have a compass with you. By telling what direction is North, you can orient yourself. If you know that a highway is to the east of you, then you know which way to walk to eventually get help.

3) A pocket knife. There are a million reasons you could find a pocket knife to be a lifesaver. From cutting rope to creating a tourniquet, if you have no way to cut something then you are practically helpless.

4) A first aid kit. Whether it’s something as minor as a knee scrape or something much more serious like an animal bite or breaking a bone, you will be glad to have the most essential medical equipment available to you should something bad happen to you. The kit will help you stop bleeding and prevent infection long enough for you to get back to civilization and a hospital. Ideally (and if needed where you’re going), your kit should include provisions for dealing with snake and insect bites. In any case, be sure you have the proper training for using your kit.

5) A loud whistle. Your voice simply won’t carry very far in a dense forest, and few people if anyone will hear you scream. If you get lost and are in a location where making noise can get you rescued, you will need something really loud, like a good whistle. Additionally, you can use a whistle to scare away threatening wildlife before their curiosity gets just a bit too close.

6) A hiking water filter. Water is life. You can last a lot longer without food than without drinking water. Why chance it? You may have need to take water from local rivers or streams–but there’s no knowing these days what pollution or bacteria may lurk there these days. A hiking water filter can help alleviate your concerns and make it likelier that you will swallow fresh, clean water. Trust me, giardia is NOT fun. Although it’ll most likely take you a few days to feel the full effects of the illness, it’ll make your very ill for months. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, be sure to filter your water!

If you keep these six essential pieces of gear in mind you will be in a much better position to deal with an unforeseen emergency or getting lost, should you have the misfortune of haivng that ever happen to you. Have a great camping trip, and enjoy your hikes!

If you are an outdoors man (or woman!) that enjoys camping and hunting then you know that the knife you carry in the field is very important as it can mean your survival. In this article we will look at some points on how to choose the best hunting knife for you.

Hunting knives come in many makes and styles as well as many types of steels from carbon steel like 1095 carbon to stainless steels such as 440C,S30V,154CM and A2 too steel and other tool steel varieties. Let’s take a look at some of the different types of hunting knife styles in order to help you pick the best hunting knife:

1. The drop point hunter is by far the best hunting knife style. It is the most popular type for in the field. It is the strongest of the blade types and thicker to. There are many variations of the drop point hunter blade and they are called “modified drop point hunters.” This style of hunting knife comes in both a folder and fixed blade types.

2. The clip point hunter is not as popular as the drop point hunter and not as strong or thick as it either. The clip point is thinner stock and mostly hollow ground. It’s an excellent choice for skinning chores due to the deep belly of the blade. This clip point hunter is also available in a folder or fixed blade.

3. The skinner is an extremely popular knife for hunters. They come in many forms from deep belly skinners to gut hook skinners. These types of skinners are also available in folder and fixed blade versions. The fastest skinner on the market today is called the Wyoming knife and is very light and fast.

It is very important to have the most reliable knives with you when you are in the field. Do your due diligence in research when choosing the best type of hunting knife for you. These are just three points of consideration when you are looking for the best hunting knife.

Take into account that you will be using this to help you when you are camping and hunting not when you are trying to install outdoor deck lights in the yard. Buy the right tools for each job
